Job Title: Office Manager

POSITION DESCRIPTION

  • Reports to: Pastor

  • Schedule: Part-time (10-15 hours per week)

  • Hourly rate commensurate with experience

  • Hybrid working environment may be available

Responsible for the efficient operation of the church office and providing support to the Pastor and other personnel. Includes working closely with leadership team by handling clerical duties and coordinating the pastor’s and committee meeting calendars. The Office Manager is the welcoming face of SMUMC and is expected to maintain regular agreed upon office hours.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist and support the Pastor as requested with scheduling of visits and appointments and overall daily operations of the church

  • Welcome visitors and direct to relevant office/personnel

  • Point person for answering incoming phone calls, responding to or redirecting email and regular mail ensuring it gets to the appropriate person.

  • Handle church communication and prepare documents

  • Prepare weekly Sunday bulletin, special program bulletins (funerals, weddings, special events)

  • Support Marketing professional in the creation of the weekly newsletter

  • Coordinate church calendar and events to avoid duplication of room space (outside groups, committee meetings, other church groups)

  • Liaison with Preschool and vendors, contractors who come into the building and office

  • Maintain general office files, supplies or general office work (copy machine repairs, etc.)

  • Support employees as needed

  • Coordinate room set up for events

  • Prepare yearly budget for office supplies

  • Attend weekly staff meetings

  • Update membership information into Servant Keeper

  • Other duties may emerge

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Strong computer skills, specifically Word

  • Ability to work in a team-oriented environment

  • Servant Keeper experience desirable

  • Welcoming demeanor

  • Ability to work independently, resolve issues and complete tasks in a timely manner

  • Ability to handle sensitive communication
